In dentistry, crown and bridge procedures stand as stalwart solutions for restoring damaged teeth and reviving smiles. At The Dental Haven Practice in Reading, we're dedicated to providing comprehensive dental care, including expertly crafted crowns and bridges tailored to each patient's unique needs. Let's delve deeper into the world of crown and bridge treatments and explore how they can transform your smile.

What Are Crowns and Bridges? Crowns and bridges are prosthetic devices that repair or replace missing or damaged teeth. These custom-made restorations are meticulously crafted to match your natural teeth' shape, size, and color, seamlessly blending in with your smile.

Crowns: A crown, also known as a dental cap, is a tooth-shaped covering that encases a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its strength, function, and appearance. Crowns are commonly used to repair teeth with extensive decay, fractures, or large fillings, as well as to cover dental implants or support dental bridges.

Bridges: A dental bridge is a fixed restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by spanning the gap between adjacent teeth. The bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth, known as pontics, supported by dental crowns attached to the neighbouring teeth, called abutments. Bridges not only restore the aesthetics of your smile but also prevent adjacent teeth from shifting out of alignment.

The Crown and Bridge Procedure: At The Dental Haven Practice, the crown and bridge procedure begins with a thorough examination and consultation with one of our experienced dentists. During this initial visit, we'll assess your oral health, discuss your treatment goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

For crown placement, the tooth receiving the crown is first prepared by removing any decay or damage and reshaping it to accommodate the crown. Impressions of the prepared tooth are then taken to create a custom-made crown that fits perfectly over the tooth. While the permanent crown is being fabricated in our dental lab, a temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth.

Once the permanent crown is ready, it is bonded securely to the prepared tooth using dental cement, restoring its functionality and aesthetics. The process for placing a dental bridge is similar, with the added step of preparing the adjacent teeth to support the bridge.

Benefits of Crown and Bridge Treatments:

Restores the function and appearance of damaged or missing teeth Strengthens weakened or compromised teeth Prevents further dental problems, such as tooth decay and gum disease Improves chewing and speech abilities Enhances the aesthetics of your smile and boosts confidence
